Approach to Client Care

TREATMENT APPROACH:

My clinical approach is to use treatment techniques that have demonstrated success through mental health treatment research. This approach is consistent with the scientist practitioner model and the goals of advocating for the child to promote his or her overall development.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT MY TREATMENT APPROACH?:

I am able to combine my expertise in both developmental and clinical child/pediatric psychology when developing and implementing a treatment plan. This is important because the most effective treatment builds developmental competencies (parent-child attachment, social skills, emotional intelligence) as well as treating clinical symptoms.

I have Ph.D.s in both clinical child psychology and developmental psychology. I specialize in working with children birth through early adolescence and their families so I have considerable experience with the needs of children during these developmental periods.

CAN TREATMENT BE SHORT-TERM?:

Research has shown that short-term, goal oriented treatment is very effective for children and families. As part of treatment, we will develop concrete goals and a timeline for meeting those goals. I use primarily behavioral and cognitive-behavioral treatment techniques which are time-limited and have been shown to be highly effective.

WHEN CAN I SEE YOU FOR AN APPOINTMENT?:

I offer sessions during the day, after school, and on Saturday mornings. When appropriate, I also offer sessions for the child at school.
